MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Men's Nordic skier Fred Bailey finished in 13th place, while Kathleen Maynard was 14th for the women's Nordic team and Joshua Kernan was 14th for the men's alpine team at the Middlebury College Ski Carnival (Eastern Championships) on Friday.
Bailey had a time of 26:12.9 in the 10-kilometer free technique race. Nick Kline placed 21st in 26:39.4, Matt Briggs was 24th with a 26:44.7, John Swain took 31st in 27:01.2 and Austin Ross was 32nd with a 27:03.5.
Maynard took 14th with a 14:37.5 in the women's 5-kilometer race. Amanda Ivey was 18th in 14:49.2 and Jennie Brentrup placed 36th with a 15:47.4.
Kernan took 14th for the men's alpine team with a two-run total time of 1:36.00 in the slalom. Sam Witherspoon took 26th in 1:38.43, Christian Talmage was 33rd in 1:42.92 and Jody Centauro placed 35th in 1:43.10. Centauro had the eighth-fastest opening run at 43.87.
Laura Littman led the women's alpine team by placing 18th in 1:52.87 over her two runs. Brett Wagenheim was 32nd in 1:57.87 and Ashley Best took 34th with a 1:59.46.
Both Colby men's teams took sixth place and each women's team was eighth.
