Alpine skiers have similar times at NCAA meet

BARTLETT, N.H. --- Colby College men's alpine skiers Jody Centauro (Green Mountain Valley School/Beaconsfield, Quebec) took 24th place and Josh Kernan (Mount Washington Valley/Shelburne, N.H.) was 25th in the giant slalom at the NCAA Skiing Championships on Thursday at Attitash.

Centauro had runs of 1:13.97 and 1:12.27 for a total time of 2:26.24, while Kernan had finishes of 1:14.59 and 1:11.59 for a 2:26.33. Kernan's second run was better than the skier who placed 10th overall (1:11.92).

Denver University's Adam Cole had a two-run total time of 2:20.42 to win the national title.

Centauro and Kernan will compete in the slalom on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Colby Nordic skiers Fred Bailey and Nick Kline return to action Friday in the men's 15-kilometer classical with a mass start. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
