JACKSON, N.H. -- Colby College Nordic skier Nick Kline (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine) closed out the Nordic skiing portion of the NCAA Skiing Championships by placing 21st in the men’s 20-kilometer freestyle classic on Friday at the Jackson Cross Country Center.
Colby teammate Fred Bailey (Telstar Regional/Andover, Maine) placed 29th for the Mules. Kline had a time of 58:24.4, while Bailey finished the mass start race at 59:27.4. Kline was fifth among skiers from the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA). In Friday’s opening day of Nordic skiing, Bailey placed 20th and Kline was 25th in the 10-kilometer freestyle technique event. Colby men’s alpine skiers Jody Centauro (Green Mountain Valley School/Beaconsfield, Quebec) and Josh Kernan (Mount Washington Valley/Shelburne, N.H.) close out the NCAA meet Saturday with slalom runs starting at 9 a.m.
