WATERVILLE, Maine -- Katie McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) got the game-winning goal midway through the second half and Kathleen Nicholson (Tuftonboro, N.H.) earned her first career shutout as the Colby College women’s soccer team took a 2-0 win over University of Southern Maine on Wednesday.
McCabe got her second goal of the season at 66:53 to put Colby (4-6-2) up for good. Meggie Herlihy (Simsbury, Conn.) tallied about five minutes later off an assist from Hannah Holbrook (Acton, Mass.). Nicholson, a senior playing collegiate soccer for the first time this year, had six stops for the shutout. Southern Maine (6-8) goalkeeper Mindy Morneault had nine saves.
