FORT MYERS, Fla. --- The Colby College softball team was on four-game winning streak after taking a 3-2 win over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday, but then had the streak snapped later in the day with a 5-4 loss to Thomas College.
Alyssa Crowell did the job on the mound and at the plate in the win over Southern Maine (4-6). She pitched a complete game, struck out seven and walked just one while giving up just one earned run. Crowell also had two hits, including a triple, and one RBI.
The Mules (5-1) had just four hits in the game, but Southern Maine pitcher Kristina Grondin did walk five and the Huskies had three errors. Miki Starr scored twice, Mollie Puskar had one hit and one run and Essie Widlanski had the other hit.
In the Thomas game, the Terriers took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning only to see the Mules score four runs. Neither team managed a run in the final three innings.
