CASTINE, Maine --- Alyssa Crowell pitched a three-hitter in the first game and Amanda Roehn tossed a three-hitter of her own in the nightcap as the Colby College softball team took 10-2 and 5-1 victories over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.
Crowell had seven strikeouts and one walk while tossing a no-hitter until the fifth inning. Roehn had three strikeouts and no walks in the second game.
Alex Essman homered in both games to reach seven homers and 27 RBI on the season. She had a solo homer in the fifth inning of the first game and had a two-run shot in the seventh inning of the other contest.
Lexi Fort had three hits (including a triple), three runs, and two RBI for Colby (12-13). Essman, Carlie Minichino, Allyson Cheever, and Emily Pavelle all had two hits for the Mules. Alaina Clark scored twice and had three walks for the Mules.
Roehn helped her own cause in the second game with a solo homer among her three hits and two runs. Mollie Puskar added two hits for Colby.
