HARTFORD, Conn. --- Colby College's Alyssa Lepore continued her red-hot hitting, but Trinity College used a five-run fourth inning on the way to a 9-5 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference East Division softball play Friday. The Mules fall to 4-11 overall and 0-1 in the NESCAC, while Trinity moves to 10-7 and 4-0 in the league. The two teams play a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon. Lepore raised her team-best batting average to .500 (22-for-44) this season by going 3-for-4 with four RBI. She smacked a three-run homer for the first home run of the season for Colby. Allyson Cheever added a pair of hits, Christine Gillespie had two walks and scored twice, and Alex Essman had one hit and one walk for the Mules.
