WILLLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- The Colby College Smith siblings --- Samantha and Harry --- each won one match and lost another during the first day of competition at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships at Williams College on Friday.

Harry Smith, the first-year player for the Colby men, nearly pulled out two five-game matches. He posted a 1-9, 6-9, 9-7, 9-1, 9-3 victory over Bernard Yaros of Williams College in a round of 64 match of the Molloy Cup. He then fell 9-1, 9-7, 2-9, 0-9, 9-4 to third-seeded Harvard’s Reed Endresen in a round of 32 match.

Samantha Smith, the junior first position player for the Colby women, won 9-3, 9-5, 9-0 over Franklin & Marshall’s Elie Foster in the round of 64. She then fell 10-9, 9-3, 9-1 to Bowdoin’s Elena Laird.
