MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Mandy Ferguson broke a 22-year-old school record, the oldest record in the books, in taking second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at Middlebury.

Ferguson had a time of 10:25.35 to break the old record of 10:29.59 by Sally White '91, who set her record in 1988. Ferguson's time helped the Mules stay in fifth place overall with 694.5 points.

Ferguson also anchored the fourth place 800 freestyle relay team of Kathryn Lee, Danielle Carlson, and Chelsea Heneghan to a time of 7:44.08. Carlson was seventh in the 400 individual medley (4:34.10), while teammate Jess Blais took sixth in the 100 backstroke (59.96).
