Mullin, Zevin take sevenths for men's swim team

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Evan Mullin placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle and teammate Kevin Smith set a school record in the event during preliminaries for Colby College at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Middlebury College on Friday night.

Mullin had a time of 4:42.20 in the championship final to take seventh and Smith was eighth in 4:45.90. The preliminaries were fast as Smith set a school record with a time of 4:38.89 and Mullin was faster as well at 4:40.74.

First-year swimmer Craig Zevin added a seventh in the 50 breaststroke (27.08), while Peter Williams added a ninth in  winning the consolation final in the 50 butterfly (23.91).

Mullin, Reilly Taylor, Sam Wampler, and Ben Gross placed seventh in the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.53). Wampler also took eighth place in the 50 freestyle (21.62 after 21.46 prelim). The team of Mike Finnerty, Andrew Peterson, Williams, and Smith took eighth in the 400 medley relay in 3:37.60.
