MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Kevin Smith finished in fourth place and set a school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle and Evan Mullin also set a school record for Colby College at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Middlebury College on Saturday night.

Smith set his second school record of the meet with a time of 9:47.12 in the 1,000 freestyle. He broke the 500 freestyle record in a preliminary race on Friday.

Mullin actually broke his school record in a 200 freestyle time trial after he false-started out of the preliminaries. Mullin had a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:42.16 in the time trial and would have placed third in the championship final with that clocking.

The Mules had sevenths in the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. Sam Wampler, Andrew Peterson, Peter Williams, and Mullin had a time of 1:36.04 in the 200 medley relay. Mullin, Williams, Wampler, and Smith finished in 7:07.36 in the 800 freestyle relay. Peterson also had an 11th place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
