Solid start for Potdevin at NCAA meet

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Colby College’s Kelsey Potdevin (Minneapolis, Minn.) got ready for Friday’s 100-yard backstroke by placing 35th in the 50 freestyle at the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday at the University of Minnesota.

Potdevin came into the meet seeded 55th out of 60 swimmers in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.39. She finished 20 spots better and clocked a time of 24.27 to just miss the school record of 24.24 by Meg Vallaly.

Potdevin normally races in the 50 freestyle at the NCAA meet to get ready for her backstroke races. She is seeded ninth for Friday’s 100-yard backstroke, with the top eight finishers earning national All-American honors. Potdevin also is seeded 29th in Saturday’s 200 backstroke race.
