WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Brittany Tasi (Shelton, Conn.), a senior left-hander, was honored Thursday for the second straight year after being named to the ESPN the Magazine All-District 1 Softball All-Academic Team on Friday.

Tasi, a pitcher, with nearly 242 innings thrown over her four years at Colby was named to the third team for the second year in a row. District 1 includes colleges from New York and New England.

Tasi led the Mules in innings pitched this year with 87.1 and she won four games while setting a career high with 47 strikeouts. She was 7-3 with a 2.24 earned run average during her junior season and had a 1.93 earned run average and four wins in her sophomore year. Tasi was second in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in ERA during her sophomore season and fifth  a year ago.

Tasi finished with a career 2.95 earned run average and 17 victories in her four seasons with Colby. She had 42 starts of her 57 pitching appearances and had 116 strikeouts and 44 walks during that time.

A psychology major, Tasi was one of just six players from the NESCAC to make one of the three teams.

Tasi, one of the team's captains, was on the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team in 2009 and 2010. She is a Phi Beta Kappa member at Colby and is on the National Honor Society in Psychology. She has had a number of internships and volunteer work with special needs children.
