MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Ian London placed third in the men's mile and Bob Glotfelty was sixth in the 1,000-meter run for the Colby College men's indoor track team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships at Wesleyan University on Saturday.
London finished with a time of 4:15.89 and was just one-half second out of first place. Geneseo State's Ross Hunkovic won in 4:15.34 and Southern Maine's Curtis Wheeler took second in 4:15.53.
Glotfelty had a 2:34.92 in the 1,000 meters for his sixth-place finish.
For the Colby women, Cassandra Knight placed eighth in the 3,000 meters (10:41.93) and teammate Margo Derecktor was 10th in 10:43.99. Devan FitzPatrick was ninth in the 1,000 meters (3:07.02) and Heather MacDonald took 11th in the 800 meters (2:23.67). Brianna Tufts was 14th in the 1,000 meters in 3:08.77, Anna Bruno took 15th in the pole vault (9-7) and Colby's 800-meter relay team was seventh in 1:49.97.
In field events, Melissa Cianciolo took 11th in the weight throw with a toss of 46-0 and Jessica Young was 14th with a 45-7.
With a limited amount of athletes at the meet, the Colby men placed 26h out of 55 teams and the women were 36th of 56 squads.
