WATERVILLE, Maine --- Emma Linhard (Brunswick/Brunswick, Maine) will be the sixth seed in the mile for the Colby College women at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships starting Friday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Linhard, a sophomore, heads back to the NCAA meet for the second straight year. She earned All-America honors when Colby’s distance medley relay team placed seventh. Linhard also ran in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA outdoor meet last May.
Linhard will compete in a preliminary race on Friday at 4 p.m., where the top 10 finishers of the 16 participants will advance to Saturday’s 2 p.m. final.
Linhard placed fifth in the mile at the Open New England Championships and was first among Division III finishers. She also won the Maine title in the mile and took fourth in the New England Division III meet.
The top seed coming into the race is Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s Ayla Mitchell, who had a 4:45.80. The other participants are all at 4:52.14 or higher. Linhard is seeded sixth at 4:57.89.
