BEREA, Ohio --- Colby College's Emma Linhard (Brunswick, Maine) will compete in the 1,500-meter run and Danielle Sheppard (Kittery, Maine) will leap in the high jump when the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships get going Thursday at Baldwin-Wallace College. Linhard will run in a trial on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. in an attempt to qualify for Saturday's final at 1:20 p.m. Meanwhile, Sheppard will wait until Saturday for the high jump competition at 11:30 a.m. The top eight athletes in each event earn All-American honors. Linhard, a three-time All-American as a junior, has broken two school records this outdoor season. She broke the 1,500 meters mark with a 4:32.05 clocking and also set the 800 meters (2:13.33) record. Jess Minty '06 held both of the records before Linhard. Sheppard has been consistent as well this year with most of her jumps at 5-foot-5 or higher. She has a personal-best leap of 5-foot-6 in taking third place at the New England Division III Championships. Karima Ummah '03 has the Colby record with a leap of 5-7.
