BEREA, Ohio --- Colby College junior Emma Linhard (Brunswick, Maine) earned her fourth All-American honor and ran the top 1,500-meter race of her career in taking eighth place at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Baldwin-Wallace College.

Colby teammate Danielle Sheppard (Kittery, Maine), another junior, finished in a tie for 11th place in the high jump.

Linhard, who had to finish in at least the top eight to earn All-American honors, broke her own school record with a time of 4 minutes, 31.43 seconds. Her old record set a few weeks ago was 4:32.05. Seven of the eight runners in the fast field were under 4:30, including winner Marie Borner of Bethel University in a Division III season-best time of 4:23.85.

Linhard earned her first outdoor track All-American honor after finishing in sixth place in the mile the past two years at the national indoor meet. She also finished seventh with her teammates in the distance medley relay at the 2008 indoor championship meet.

Sheppard tied with three other jumpers for 11th place at 5 foot, 3.75 inches in the high jump. Manchester College's Kailey Honn won the competition with the only jump of the meet at 5-8. Three other competitors had jumps of 5-7. Sheppard's personal best in competition this year was 5-6.
