Volleyball team falls in four sets to Panthers

LEWISTON, Maine --- Caitlin Burchill finished with 13 kills and 22 defensive digs as the Colby College volleyball team split the opening two sets with Middlebury College in a loss on Friday night in New England Small College Athletic Conference play.

The Mules (4-8) fell 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-12 in the league match. Colby also went five sets in a tough non-conference loss at home to Bowdoin College on Wednesday.

Maggie Taylor added seven kills and 15 digs, Heather Arvidson had five blocks and four kills, Lily Kramlich-Taylor smacked five kills, Kate Pleasants dished 24 assists and had 10 digs, captain Clare Reich added 20 digs, and Hannah Bowman had nine digs and three service aces.

Colby will play Amherst College in another league match Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bates College.
