Volleyball drops match to Bates

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Jenn Linton (Redding, Conn.) had 10 kills and six blocks to help the Bates College volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Wednesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

The Bobcats won by scores of 24-30, 33-31, 30-26, 24-30, 16-14 in improving to 11-13 overall and 2-5 in the conference. Colby also is 11-13 and 2-5 in the league, but now Bates has the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Mules with each team playing three more league games.

Jessie Prentice (New York, N.Y.) had 19 kills and 16 digs for Colby. Meredith Lawler (Lynnfield, Mass.) added 12 kills and 11 blocks, Jenny Lawrence (Lafayette, Calif.) dished 42 assists and had 19 digs, Larissa Levine (Potomac, Md.) had six blocks and Kendall Kirby (Piedmont, Calif.) had 30 digs and six aces.

Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) added 13 kills, Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) had 10 kills, Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) finished with seven blocks and senior captain Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, Md.) had 43 assists.
