Volleyball drops two league matches

HARTFORD, Conn. --- With a tough back-to-back match schedule, the Colby College volleyball team fell 3-1 to both Wesleyan University and Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Trinity.

Heather Arvidson had 10 kills and six blocks in Colby’s 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 26-24 setback to Wesleyan (18-5, 7-1 NESCAC). Meredith Lawler also had 10 kills and Jenny Lawrence had 22 assists. Andrea Rosengarten and Clare Reich both finished with 22 defensive digs.

Colby (9-12, 0-6) fell 25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14 to Trinity (11-10, 2-6) in the second match of the day. The Mules had to play the four games with Wesleyan at 1:30 p.m. and then play Trinity immediately after that contest. Lawrence had 28 assists, 17 digs, and three services aces for the Mules. Lawler finished with 11 kills and four blocks, while Larissa Levine had four blocks.
