WATERVILLE, Maine --- Maggie Taylor (Cabin John, Md.) led Colby College with 18 defensive digs, five kills, and three aces in a 3-0 loss to Bates College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Tuesday night.
Nicole Russell (Boca Raton, Fla.) finished with 16 kills and seven defensive digs for Bates (7-14 overall, 2-5 NESCAC), while the Mules fall to 6-13 and 0-7. The Bobcats won by scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-23.
Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.) added 17 digs and seven kills, while Eliza Pyne (Atherton, Calif.) finished with eight kills and three blocks for the Bobcats. First-year setter Jennifer Youngpeter (Mobile, Ala.) had 29 assists, 10 digs, and three aces. Caroline Gattuso (North Reading, Mass.) added 13 digs.
Colby's Caitlin Burchill (Walpole, Mass.) added seven kills and a pair of aces, Clare Reich (Piedmont, Calif.) had 20 digs, Kate Pleasants (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with 17 assists and three aces, and Kate Bellerose (West Newton, Mass.) had five kills.
The Mules play at University of New England on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
