Colby volleyball falls to Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. --- The Colby College volleyball team kept it close in the early stages of games one and three only to see Amherst College pull away for a 3-0 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night.

The Mules (12-21, 2-7 NESCAC) fell 30-17, 30-19, 30-18 to Amherst (24-3, 8-1). Colby will play Tufts University at Amherst on Saturday.

Junior Meredith Lawler paced the Colby attack with 11 kills, while first-year Heather Arvidson finished with eight kills and senior co-captain Jessie Prentice chipped in with six. Junior Carlie Minichino led Colby with 12 digs and junior Jenny Lawrence racked up 29 assists.

Colby was tied 9-9 in the opening game and was deadlocked 12-12 in the third game.
