WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College’s Jenny Lawrence (Lafayette, Calif.) and Meredith Lawler (Lynnfield, Mass.) will each play Sunday in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Senior Classic at Wellesley College.
The match will start at 12:30 p.m. and feature 32 players from five conferences. Players were selected by a vote of all participating member head coaches of NEWVA.
Lawrence, a setter, is Colby’s all-time leader in career assists (4,024) and service aces (332). She also has the school record for single-season assists with 1,473 in 2005. Lawrence finished her career with 1,353 defensive digs, 257 kills, and 72 blocks. She ended this past season with 798 assists, 296 defensive digs, and 74 aces for the Mules (12-16).
Lawler, a middle blocker, also holds a school record for kills in a four-game match with 23 against Middlebury in 2006. She finished her career with 1,135 kills, 515 defensive digs, and 218 blocks. Lawler had 270 kills, 175 digs, and 60 blocks for Colby this season.
Lawrence and Lawler each played on the 2005 New England Small College Athletic Conference champion team. The Mules went on to win the NCAA New England Region title and make the final eight in Virginia.
