WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College libero Kendall Kirby (Piedmont/Piedmont, Calif.) once again earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in volleyball for the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Kirby also earned a spot on the NESCAC second team. She was the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 when the Mules went 37-4 and made it to the NCAA Division III Tournament quarterfinals.
Kirby played three years at Colby and helped the team to a 71-33 record. She broke team records for career digs (1,942), digs in a season (764 in 2005), service aces in a season (118 in 2005), aces in three game (14) and four game (10) matches, digs in a four game match (53) and digs in a three game match (36).
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Kirby led the league in digs per game (6.61) and was second in service aces per game (0.75). She was 24th nationally in digs per game and finished her career with 256 aces. Kirby finished the 2006 season with 707 digs and 80 aces despite missing the final four matches of the season with an injury for the Mules (13-19).
