BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The Colby College volleyball team went up two games to zero with back-to-back 25-23 wins, but Bowdoin College bounced all the way back with wins in the next three games to pull out a 3-2 victory in a match that did not count toward the New England Small College Athletic Conference standings Wednesday night.
The Polar Bears (4-0) took a 23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-12, 15-9 victory over the Mules (3-2). The two teams play again at Bowdoin in the league match October 9.
Megan Conroy had 12 kills to pace Colby, while Emily Ten Eyck dished 23 assists and Caitlin Burchill had 25 defensive digs.
Gillian Page had a match-high 20 kills, including five in the fifth game, and added 15 digs to lead Bowdoin.
Colby got up 4-3 in the fifth game only to see the Polar Bears go on a 6-1 run to take a 9-5 lead.
The Mules play a NESCAC match against Amherst College on Friday at 8 p.m. at Bates College.
