Colby volleyball has 1-3 weekend at tough MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --- The Colby College volleyball team settled for a 1-3 record against some good competition at the MIT Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Mules took a 3-0 win (30-23, 30-28, 30-22) over Bridgewater State in the opening match Friday. Colby fell 3-0 (30-11, 30-25, 30-28) to eventual champion MIT, 3-1 (30-26, 15-30, 30-23, 30-27) to Wellesley and 3-1 (30-25, 30-24, 26-30, 30-26) to Smith.

Meredith Lawler had 18 kills and Jessie Prentice finished with 22 digs in the win against Bridgewater. Julie Hike added 10 kills and Jenny Lawrence dished 29 assists.

Cassie Sancartier had five service aces and 19 digs against MIT. Kendall Kirby added 25 digs, while Lawler and Prentice both had nine kills.

Lawler had 20 kills, Hike had 12 kills and Lawrence finished with 36 assists and 16 digs against Wellesley. Meanwhile, Lawler had 17 kills and Hike had 11 against Smith. Lawrence had 28 assists in three games, while Sancartier had 11 assists and 19 digs.
