LEWISTON, Maine --- Kendall Kirby had a team record 14 services aces in a win over Worcester State and the Colby College volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over Bates College in a second match Friday at the Bates Invitational.
Kirby had the most aces in a Colby volleyball match of any amount of games. The three-game record was 11 set by Kimberly Prescott. Kirby also had 19 digs, while teammate Carlie Minichino had six aces.
The Mules took a 3-0 win (30-18, 30-20, 30-20) win over Worcester State and then captured a 3-1 victory (30-25, 30-24, 27-30, 30-19) against Bates in the late match Friday.
Colby (8-6) also got 29 assists from Jenny Lawrence in the win against Worcester State. Meredith Lawler had 11 kills, while Julie Hike and Jessie Prentice both had nine kills.
Lawrence had 31 assists, eight digs and four aces in the win against Bates. Kirby added five more aces and had 25 digs, Prentice had 11 kills, Lawler added 10 kills, Hike had eight kills and four blocks, Minichino finished with five aces and Larissa Levine had four blocks.
Colby plays University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth at noon on Saturday and then takes on Southern Maine at 2 p.m.
