Colby volleyball has 3-1 weekend

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Larissa Levine (Potomac, Md.) was named to the all-tournament team for Colby College after the Mules went 3-1 at the Colby Volleyball Invitiational on Saturday.

Levine, who had fine matches Friday against Gordon and Maine Maritime Academy, added six kills and three blocks in a 3-0 win (30-7, 30-12, 30-28) over University of Maine at Farmington. She also had four kills and four blocks in a 3-0 victory (30-13, 30-14, 30-22) against Husson College.

Meredith Lawler (Lynnfield, Mass.) had 14 kills and six aces in the win against Husson and added 10 kills and eight digs against UMF. Megan Conroy (San Francisco, Calif.) finished with nine aces against Husson, while Cassie Sancartier (Haverhill, Mass.) added 12 assists, six aces, and six kills.

Gordon College went 4-0 over two days to defend its title. Gordon (5-2) has earned back-to-back titles after winning the inaugural championship in 2002. Colby won the three tournaments from 2003 to 2005.

Blakely Burns (Laguna Beach, Calif.), voted the tournament's outstanding player, had 14 kills in three straight 3-0 wins against Husson College, University of Maine at Farmington, and Maine Maritime Academy. Leah Chamberlain (Canton, Mass.) also made the all-tournament team for the champs.

Other all-tournament team selections included Husson College's Cassandra O'Neil (Manchester, N.H.), Maine Maritime Academy's Michelle Ferry (Princeton, Maine), and Maine-Farmington's Meagan Dube (Lewiston, Maine).
