WATERVILLE, Maine --- Alison Cappelloni (Sudbury, Mass.), who wears jersey number 13, became the 13th player in Colby College women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points as the Mules took an 88-58 non-league win over Husson University on Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Cappelloni nailed a jumper from the left corner about three minutes into the second half to surpass 1,000 points. She finished the game with a team-high 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting, seven rebounds, and four assists. Cappelloni was 3-for-4 from 3-point range and made both of her free throws. Cappelloni has 1,008 points in her four years with the Mules.

Cappelloni's big day overshadowed the fact that the Mules tied a team record for the best start after 10 games at 9-1 overall. The 1979-80 and 1983-84 squads also started 9-1, with the 1979-80 team having the all-time best start to the season at 10-1.

Colby's Rachael Mack (Augusta, Maine) had her best game of the season with 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting, six rebounds, five blocked shots, and three assists. Aarika Ritchie (Lee, Maine) chipped in 10 points and dished five assists, while Jil Vaughan (Wareham, Mass.) had nine points and five boards. Samantha Allen (Bridgton, Maine) had a fine all-around game with eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Julianne Kowalski (Montville, N.J.) had eight points and six rebounds, while Diana Manduca (Portland, Maine) had eight points.

Shelby Bradford (Lee, Maine) had a game-high 21 points on 9-for-16 shooting and eight rebounds to pace Husson (3-8). Bethany Sevey (Skowhegan, Maine) added 12 points, while Kelli Murray (Shawmut, Maine) and Brianna Hanscom (Mattawamkeag, Maine) both had nine points.

Colby only led 25-24 after Murray nailed a jumper for Husson with 5:23 left in the first half. The Mules, though, used a 14-3 run to end the half in taking a 39-27 margin into the break. Colby quickly pulled away in the second half and wore down Husson with its size.
