WATERVILLE, Maine --- Jil Vaughan (Wareham, Mass.) shot 9-for-10 from the field to finish with a game-high 18 points and also had a team-high nine rebounds in leading the 25th-ranked Colby College women's basketball team to a 71-37 victory over University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

The Mules move to 6-1 heading into the semester break, while UMPI stands at 1-5 overall.

Rachael Mack (Augusta, Maine) added 12 points, eight rebounds, and a pair of steals for Colby. Jules Kowalski finished with a game-high four blocked shots and chipped in seven points and eight boards for the winners. Karlyn Adler (Rye Brook, N.Y.) led all players with six assists, Kelly Potvin (Sherborn, Mass.) added eight points and eight rebounds, Jacky McLaughlin (Medfield, Mass.) finished with nine points and three assists, Kelly Potvin (Sherborn, Mass.) had eight points and eight rebounds, and Aarika Ritchie (Lee, Maine) had seven points and three assists.

Rashell Saucier (Washburn, Maine) led the Owls with 11 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Megan Korhonen (Littleton, Maine) added eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Emily Pelletier (Fort Kent, Maine) had six points for UMPI.

Colby held the Owls without a field goal for the first 4:32 of the contest while opening up a 9-1 lead. The Mules led 25-7 at one point before settling for a 37-18 halftime lead.

Colby led by 40 points twice in the second half, including a 71-31 margin with 4:13 to play. The Owls used a 6-0 run the rest of the way.

Colby heads to Florida for the New Year and will take on Salem State on Saturday, January 1, at 2:30 p.m.
