McCabe, Cappelloni lead Mules past Husson

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior Katie McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) made her final home game a memorable one with 28 points and collegiate-highs of 19 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocked shots in the Mules' 87-77 win over Husson College in non-conference women's basketball on Tuesday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

McCabe and sophomore forward Alison Cappelloni (Sudbury, Mass.) combined for 53 points, 30 rebounds, nine assists, and five blocked shots. Cappelloni finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and a pair of blocked shots. McCabe went 12-for-18 from the field, including a 7-for-7 effort in the opening half.

McCabe has 1,160 points and 668 rebounds in her career heading into Saturday's 5 p.m. game at Bowdoin College. She has her season averages up to 15.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Abby Harris (Hingham, Mass.) added seven points, four rebounds, and four blocked shots for Colby (7-12). Meredith Aronson (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) also had seven points, while Julianne Kowalski (Montville, N.J.) finished with six points and five rebounds.

Shelby Pickering (Lee, Maine) led Husson (10-9) with 20 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Jenny Rollins (Corinth, Maine) had a team-high 22 points thanks to a 6-for-10 effort from 3-point range.

Colby led 43-36 at halftime and opened up a lead of 14 points with about eight minutes left in the game. Husson got as close as 77-73 with 3:43 left, but the Mules got the next four points and stayed up by six points or more the rest of the way.
