WATERVILLE, Maine --- Junior forward Katie McCabe (Taft School/Watertown, Conn.) was named to the all-state second team by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) and teammate Alison Cappelloni (Lincoln-Sudbury/Sudbury, Mass.) was named to the All-Rookie Team on Thursday.
McCabe led the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in field goal percentage (.526) and was first on Colby in rebounding (7.0) and second in scoring (12.0). She was seventh in the conference in rebounding and 13th in scoring.
McCabe heads into her senior season with 858 points and 492 rebounds in her Colby career.
Cappelloni was the only first-year player in the NESCAC to be in four of the eight individual statistical categories kept by the league. She was fourth in blocked shots per game (1.70, 39 total), sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (.333), 15th in scoring (11.0) and 15th in rebounding (6.3). Cappelloni was the only first-year player in the top 15 in scoring or rebounding in the conference.
Cappelloni would have been in a fifth statistical category if she had one more made free throw. Her 45-for-55 effort (.818) ranked third in the league, but she did not have the minimum of two made free throws per game.
