Women's cross country captures title

CUMBERLAND CENTER, Maine --- Emma Linhard placed second overall out of 115 runners as the Colby College women’s cross country team won the Maine State Championships on Saturday at Twin Brook Rec Center.

Linhard had a time of 18 minutes, 49.60 seconds over the 5-kilometer course. Anne Monjar of Bowdoin won the race in 18:40.17.

Katrina Gravel took third for the Mules in 18:53.04, Cassi Knight was fifth in 19:01.12, Nora McCall finished seventh in a 19:16.39 clocking, Mandy Ivey crossed 13th in 19:36.02, and Devan FitzPatrick was 14th in 19:38.93.

Colby had a score of 30 to easily beat runner-up Bowdoin (46) in the eight-team field.
