Women's cross country 17th at Open NE meet

BOSTON, Mass. --- Amy Tortorello was the top finisher for the Colby College women's cross country team after placing 67th out of 322 finishers at the Open New England Women's Cross Country Championships at Boston's Franklin Park.

Tortorello had a time of 18 minutes, 56 seconds over the 5.017-kilometer course. Layne Schwab took 84th place in 19:06, while Berol Dewdney placed 87th in 19:08.

The Mules had all seven of their runners in the top 150. Claire Dunn was 119th in 19:29, Kate Connolly took 121st with a 19:30, Allison Rigby clocked a 19:31 for 124th place, and Emma Linhard took 148th in 19:45.

Colby finished 17th out of 47 teams at the meet. Runners from Division I, II, and III schools compete in the event. Boston College won the team title and University of Maine's Corey Conner was the individual winner in 16:54.
