WATERVILLE, Maine --- Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) scored a pair of goals to reach 40 for her career as the Colby College women's hockey team posted a 4-1 victory over Hamilton College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night at Alfond Rink.
Julian has 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points this season to lead Colby (7-5-2, 2-2-2 NESCAC) in scoring and is up to 40 goals and 33 assists for 73 career points in her junior season.
Julian scored at 6:50 of the opening period for the only goal in the first 20 minutes of play off assists from Lauren Goethals (Needham, Mass.) and Colette Finley (St. Paul, Minn.) on the power play. She got the other score at 13:15 of the second period off passes from Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Elissa Kurtz (Miami, Fla.).
Hamilton (3-8-1, 1-5-1) cut the margin in half at 19:16 of the second period when Cindy Lukianchuk (Erickson, Minn.) scored on the power play from Jess Goldberg (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Rachel Rapoza (Barrington, R.I.).
Heather Nickerson (Falmouth, Mass.) got her first goal of the season at 3:37 of the third period to give the Mules some breathing room at 3-1. Kurtz scored off a pass from Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) with just 1:50 left in the game.
Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) made 17 saves to improve to 5-1-2 in goal for Colby. Meg Shine (Duxbury, Mass.) stopped 27 shots for Hamilton.
