WATERVILLE, Maine -- Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) scored both goals to help the Colby College women’s hockey team hang on for a 2-1 win over Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday at Alfond Rink.
The Mules (5-6-3, 3-4-1 NESCAC) got 38 saves from junior goalie Genevieve Triganne (Pointe-Claire, Quebec).
Anning tallied at 15:44 of the first period off assists from Dana Yerigan (Isanti, Minn.) and Colette Finley (St. Paul, Minn.).
Anning then got the eventual game-winning goal at 5:45 of the second period from passes by Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) and Heather Nickerson (Falmouth, Mass.) on the power play.
Connecticut College (5-8-1, 2-5-1) made it a one-goal game when captain Kristen Van Slyke (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored off assists from Erin Davey (Nashua, N.H.) and Sarah Napoli (Barrington, R.I.).
Camel goalie Lauren Mellen (Joliet, Ill.) stopped 26 shots.
