WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College received all three of its goals from first-year players and senior goalie Gen Triganne (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) posted the shutout as the Mules earned a 3-0 win against Wesleyan University in New England Small College Athletic Conference women's hockey Saturday at Alfond Rink.
Elissa Kurtz (Miami, Fla.) scored the first two goals of the game for the Mules (8-5-2, 3-2-2 NESCAC) and classmate Liz Osgood (North Andover, Mass.) closed out the scoring.
Kurtz got the only goal of the first period off assists from Dana Yerigan (Isanti, Minn.) and Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) at 11:32.
Lauren Goethals (Needham, Mass.) and Anning assisted on the second goal by Kurtz at 3:35 of the second period. Goethals also had an assist along with Tatiana Kowalewski (Boise, Idaho) on the final goal by Osgood at 5:56 of the second period.
Triganne needed to make just 14 saves for her sixth career shutout. Meanwhile, Wesleyan (3-10, 0-8) got 26 saves from goalie Rachel Stemerman (Williamsville, N.Y.).
