WATERVILLE, Maine --- Sophomore forward Tasha Rivard (Newbury, Mass.) scored two goals and first-year goaltender Brianne Wheeler (Brussels, Ontario) stopped 33 shots to lead the Colby College women's hockey team to a 3-2 win over College of Holy Cross on Friday night at Alfond Rink. The Mules move to 5-7 overall heading into Saturday's road game at New England College at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, Holy Cross falls to 9-3 overall. Wheeler had 14 saves in the opening period to help Colby forge a 1-1 tie at the break. The Crusaders scored first on a goal by Nicola Garat (Princeton, N.J.) at 8:05, but Rivard scored her first goal at 14:36 to tie the contest off a pass from Meredith Reynolds (Marion, Mass.). The rest of the scoring was in the second period and Rivard scored first on an unassisted tally at 4:36 of the period. After a goal by Holy Cross senior forward Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) at 10:29, Colby got the game-winning goal off the stick of Meghan Tedoldi (Needham, Mass.) at 13:01. Alex Essman (Littleton, Mass.) and Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) both assists on the play.
