WATERVILLE, Maine -- Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.) scored with just 2:51 left in regulation to help the Colby College women’s hockey team to a 2-2 tie with Connecticut College in the season opener for both schools on Friday night at Alfond Rink.
Comeau tallied on the power play off assists from Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) and Lauren Goethals (Needham, Mass.).
Connecticut College (0-0-1) had gone ahead 2-1 at 9:21 of the third period on an unassisted goal by senior Jill Mauer (Millbrook, N.Y.).
The Mules (0-0-1) opened the scoring in the first period when Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored unassisted for her first collegiate goal.
The Camels tied it in the second period when Rachel Lindmark (Andover, Mass.) scored off assists from Celia Medeiros (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Kourtney Brim (Shawnee, Kan.).
Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) stopped 28 shots in goal for the Camels, while Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) also made 28 stops for Colby.
