NEW LONDON, Conn. --- Despite a two goal effort from Becky Julian, the Colby College women's hockey team lost 3-2 to Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
The Camels (1-1) scored all three goals in the third period on the power play. Colby (0-2) had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the game.
After a scoreless opening period, Julian tallied off assists from Laura Anning and Colette Finley at 17:24 of the second period.
Connecticut College tied the game at 1-1 when Kristen Van Slyke scored at 3:32 of the third period. Julian, though, made it a 2-1 game at 6:28 off an assist from first-year player Kaitlyn Conway.
Sarah Napoli scored power play goals at 14:53 and then got the game-winning goal with just 1:13 remaining.
Colby had a 43-27 advantage in shots, but Camel goalie Lauren Mellen stopped 41 shots. Lacey Brown made 24 saves for Colby. Mellen stopped 18 shots in the second period and 14 more in the third.
