Women's hockey loses despite lots of shots

BOSTON, Mass. --- The Colby College women's hockey team poured on the pressure and had a 38-19 shot advantage, yet it was University of Massachusetts at Boston with two of the three goals scored in a 2-1 non-conference victory over the Mules on Saturday.

All the scoring happened in the second period. The Beacons (4-5) scored two goals in less than three minutes off the sticks of Alli Greenberg and Lauren Duran, who tallied at 15:44 for her third goal of the season.

Colby (2-6) got its lone goal with 1:38 remaining in the second period on Kathy Shei's first goal of the season from Liz Osgood and Meryl Poulin.

UMB goalie Leah Hallett was consistent in net and finished with 37 saves. She had 13 stops in the first period and then 12 each in the final two periods.  Colby first-year goalie Grace Dickinson had her first start of the season and made 17 saves.
