BURLINGTON, Vt. --- Utica College, ranked eighth nationally, answered back with a quick goal after Colby College cut the lead to one goal in a 5-1 victory in the opening day of the Saint Michael's Tournament on Saturday.
Colby (1-4-2) will play Saint Michael's in the consolation game Sunday at 1 p.m., while Utica (6-1-1) takes on Neumann College in the title game at 4 p.m. Krystal Cummings had three goals and Deana Wiegand had three assists for Utica, which led 2-0 after the opening period. Amanda Comeau tallied for Colby at 2:16 of the second period of assists from Becky Julian and Heather Nickerson to make it a 2-1 game. However, the Pioneers got a goal from Cummings just 1:07 later to again go up by two goals. Stephanie Yates stopped 15 shots for Utica. Colby goalie Genevieve Triganne made 21 saves.
