Women's hockey tops Saint Michael's

BURLINGTON, Vt. --- Three Colby College goalies combined on the shutout and the Mules scored three goals in the second period on the way to a 4-0 victory over Saint Michael's College in the consolation game of the Saint Michael's Tournament  on Sunday.

Genevieve Triganne, Lacey Brown and Shelley Payne combined for 17 saves in the shutout for Colby (2-4-2).

Laura Anning scored just 1:26 into the first period off an assist from Dana Yerigan for the only goal in the first 20 minutes.

The Mules broke loose with three goals in the second period, the first off the stick of Becky Julian off a pass from Anning at 2:11. Yerigan picked up her second assist of the game on a goal by Lauren Bizzari at 12:08 and then Kaitlyn Conway tallied at 16:15 on the power play for the final goal of the contest.

Colette Finley earned all-tournament team honors for Colby, which will play host to Middlebury College this Friday at 7 p.m.

Utica College took a 5-1 win over Neumann College in the championship game.
