WATERVILLE, Maine --- Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) had three goals and one assist and teammate Andrea Fuwa (Wilmette, Ill.) scored her first two collegiate goals as the Colby College women's hockey team took an 8-1 victory over University of Southern Maine in non-conference play Tuesday night at Alfond Rink.
Anning, a junior forward, has scored seven goals against USM (2-4) in two games this season. She had four goals in a 5-1 victory over the Huskies in Gorham.
Fuwa got her first collegiate goal just 58 seconds into the game as the Mules scored five times in the opening period. Anning had the next two goals at 5:20 and 8:08. Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Liz Osgood (North Andover, Mass.) also tallied in the first period.
Mary Vaughan (Brunswick, Maine) got USM on the scoreboard at 9:31 of the second period, but Colby added two more goals by Alexandra Essman (Littleton, Mass.) and Anning to make it 7-1 after two periods. Essman also got her first collegiate goal.
Fuwa added a power play goal just 1:02 into the third period for the final Colby (2-2-1) goal.
