NEW LONDON, Conn.— Stephanie Scarpato scored her first two goals of the season and first-year goalie Filomania Falcucci made 53 saves to help the Colby College women's hockey team earn a 3-3 overtime tie with Connecticut College on Saturday in NESCAC play.
Falcucci had 19 saves in the first period, 12 in the second, 15 in the third period, and added seven stops in overtime. Colby moves to 1-2-3 overall after posting two ties in league games this weekend.
After two scoreless periods, the teams exploded for all the goals in the third period. Conn College scored 4:01 into play, but Scarpato tallied for the first time on an unassisted goal at 5:56. Scarpato put the Mules up 2-1 just 20 seconds later off assists from Marissa Simmons and Liz Osgood.
The Camels tied the game at 2-2 at 7:50, but Osgood scored at 13:48 to put the Mules up 3-2 off a pass from Elissa Kurtz.
Rachel Lindmark scored unassisted with 3:40 to play in regulation for the Camels' final goal.
