WATERVILLE, Maine --- Senior goaltender Alexi Bloom won her 40th career game for Middlebury College and Colby College keeper Brianne Wheeler had a solid effort with 40 saves, but the fourth-ranked Panthers took a 4-0 victory over the Mules in NESCAC women's hockey Friday night at Alfond Rink.
Middlebury (17-4-1, 13-1-1 NESCAC) scored two goals in the first period and added two more in the third. Bloom stopped 16 shots for the shutout.
Madeline Joyce scored at 13:34 of the first period and Nora Bergman added a second goal for the Panthers about three minutes later.
Anna McNally, who now has 109 career points for Middlebury, and Lauren Greer had the goals in the third period.
Wheeler faced 18 shots and made 18 stops in the second period for Colby (8-15-0, 4-11-0).
