WATERVILLE, Maine --- Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) picked up her second shutout of the season and a goal by Elissa Kurtz (Miami, Fla.) just 3:06 into the game proved to be the game-winning tally as the Colby College women's hockey team earned a 2-0 win over Bowdoin College at Alfond Rink on Tuesday night.
Brown had 26 saves to move her record to 9-3-2 this season and 6-2-2 in New England Small College Athletic Conference play. Kurtz got her eighth goal of the season off an assist from Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) just 3:06 into the opening period for Colby (12-7-3, 7-4-3 NESCAC). Playing in her final regular season home game, senior Lauren Goethals (Needham, Mass.) had a short-handed goal at 15:46 of the second period to give the Mules an insurance goal. Emileigh Mercer (Newton, Mass.) stopped 16 shots for Bowdoin (5-10-6, 2-8-6 NESCAC).
