WATERVILLE, Maine -- Hamilton College scored with just 33 seconds left in the opening period and added another goal just 1:10 into the second period on the way to a 3-1 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s hockey at Alfond Rink on Friday.
Hamilton goalie Meg Shine (Duxbury, Mass.) stopped 31 shots to key the victory for the Continentals (7-10-1, 5-5-1 NESCAC).
Colby (5-8-5, 3-6-3) scored first when Caroline Voyles (North Oaks, Minn.) tallied with 4:17 left in the first period off an assist from Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.).
Amy Allen (Bright’s Grove, Ontario) tied the game with 33 seconds left off a pass from Kerry Leonard (Stamford, Conn.). Hamilton got the goal at 1:10 of the second period when Leonard got the eventual game winner off a dish from Allen. Laura Stirrat (Wellesley, Mass.) got an insurance goal with 5:41 left in the second period.
