WATERVILLE, Maine --- Marissa Mullane (Wallingford, Conn.) scored the tying goal with 57 seconds left and Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.) got the game-winning goal with just 15 seconds remaining as the Colby College women's hockey team pulled out a 4-3 victory over Williams College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Alfond Rink.
Colby (9-7-3, 4-4-3 NESCAC) pulled its goalie for the extra attacker and Mullane made the move pay off with her first goal of the season off assists from Comeau and Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.). With the game seconds away from overtime, Comeau got the winner off a pass from Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia).
Williams (1-14-2, 1-9-1) had leads of 1-0 and 3-2 in the game. Caralyn Quan (Toronto, Ontario) tallied at 15:12 of the first period on the first of three power play goals by the Ephs.
Colby, though, went ahead 2-1 in the second period on goals by Elissa Kurtz (Miami, Fla.) at 7:52 and Julian on the power play at 9:01.
Joey Lye (Scarborough, Ontario) scored two straight goals to give Wiliams the 3-2 margin. She had her first power play goal at 14:23 of the second period and then scored another extra man goal just 1:05 into the third period.
Colby's Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) and the Ephs' Denise McCulloch (Toronto, Ontario) both had 32 saves.
