MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Despite a 5-0 loss at Middlebury College on Saturday, the Colby College women's hockey team will play in the New England Small College Athletic Conference playoffs this Saturday. The Mules (3-16-5 overall, 1-12-3 NESCAC) are the eighth seed and will play a 1 p.m. quarterfinal game at Amherst College. The Mules beat then top-ranked Amherst in a 3-2 home win earlier this year for their only league win. Libby Miner had two goals to lead Middlebury (15-6-3, 11-4-1). Heather Marrison also tallied for the Panthers. Loni Pisani stopped 31 shots for the Mules. 2010 Women's Ice Hockey Championship Seeding Quarterfinals – Saturday, Feb. 27 at higher seeds No. 8 Colby at No. 1 Amherst – 1 p.m. No. 7 Connecticut College at No. 2 Trinity – 3 p.m. No. 6 Hamilton at No. 3 Middlebury – 1 p.m. No. 5 Bowdoin at No. 4 Williams – 1 p.m.
Semifinals – Saturday, March 6 at Highest Remaining Seed Lowest remaining seed vs. Highest remaining seed – 1:00 p.m. Remaining first round winners – 4:00 p.m.
Championship – Sunday, March 7 Semifinal Winners – 2:00 p.m.
