Women's hockey makes playoffs despite loss

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Despite a 5-0 loss at Middlebury College on Saturday, the Colby College women's hockey team will play in the New England Small College Athletic Conference playoffs this Saturday.

The Mules (3-16-5 overall, 1-12-3 NESCAC) are the eighth seed and will play a 1 p.m. quarterfinal game at Amherst College. The Mules beat then top-ranked Amherst in a 3-2 home win earlier this year for their only league win.

Libby Miner had two goals to lead Middlebury (15-6-3, 11-4-1). Heather Marrison also tallied for the Panthers.

Loni Pisani stopped 31 shots for the Mules.
